The Detroit Red Wings have locked up an important piece of their forward corp by signing Robby Fabbri to a three-year, $12-million contract extension Monday.
Fabbri, who turns 26 in January, was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
The five-foot-10 centre from Mississauga, Ont., has eight goals and 14 points in 28 games this season, his third with the club.
Detroit acquired him from St. Louis in November 2019 after parts of four seasons with the Blues, who selected him in the first round of the 2014 NHL Draft.
Fabbri has 32 goals and 63 points in 110 games with the Red Wings. He signed a two-year, $5.9-million contract with the Red Wings ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.
