As the Vancouver Canucks search for a new general manager, a new name surfaced on Tuesday.
The Canucks requested and were granted permission to interview former Buffalo Sabres GM Kevyn Adams, The Athletic's Matthew Fairburn and Thomas Drance reported.
Adams, who was fired by the Sabres in mid-December, required permission to interview because he still had time left on his contract with Buffalo.
He served as the Sabres' GM for five-and-a-half seasons before being replaced by Jarmo Kekäläinen.
On the day Adams was dismissed, the Sabres were 14-14-4 and tied for last place in the Eastern Conference. After his departure, they went 36-9-5, winning the Atlantic Division and ending a 14-season playoff drought.
Adams, 51, is a former NHL forward who played for six different teams over a decade. A first-round draft pick in 1993, he won a Stanley Cup with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2006 before retiring in 2009.
