The Toronto Maple Leafs did not extend qualifying offers to Ondrej Kase, Joseph Duszak, Kristians Rubins, Chad Krys and Ian Scott, according to CapFriendly, meaning restricted free agent Pierre Engvall did receive one.
Engvall, a 26-year-old forward, scored 15 goals and pitched in 20 assists in 78 games with the Maple Leafs this past season. The 2014 Maple Leafs seventh-round pick made $1.25 million in 2021-22.
Kase, also 26, produced 14 goals and 13 assists in a limited 50 games due to concussion issues.
The winger from Kadan, Czechia, began his career with the Anaheim Ducks, with whom he scored 20 goals in 2017-18. He was then traded to the Boston Bruins in February 2020 before signing a one-year, $1.25-million deal with Toronto last off-season.
Duszak, 24, produced 52 points in 61 games from the blue line with the AHL's Toronto Marlies last season. He has yet to play his first NHL game.
Rubins played three games in the NHL last season, though the 24-year-old defenceman spent most of the season with the Marlies.
Krys, also a 24-year-old defenceman, played in 38 games with the Marlies last season and has never played in the NHL.
Scott, a 23-year-old goalie, played only one game last season — suiting up for the ECHL's Newfoundland Growlers.
