The Ottawa Senators will be without one of their top centremen for the remainder of the game against the New York Rangers.
The club announced that they were pulling Josh Norris from Tuesday's game for precautionary reasons.
Though the Senators didn't provide any other information, Norris did trip and land on the ice, face-first, in the first period. He left the bench shortly after but did return.
Norris, 25, is having a bounce-back season after being plagued with various injuries over the past few years. He has 17 markers and 27 points in 48 games, second only in goals to captain Brady Tkachuk (18).
After hitting career-highs in goals (35) and points (55) during the 2021-22 season, Norris suffered through shoulder injuries the following two years. He played just six games in 2022-23 before a necessary shoulder surgery ended his season, and underwent another shoulder surgery after playing 55 games in 2023-24.
The Senators currently sit in the Eastern Conference's first wild-card spot, the first time they've been in a playoff position this late in the season since 2017.
