We’re just a week into the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and already, the Colorado Avalanche have the Nashville Predators on the brink of elimination.
With a win in Music City, the Avalanche can complete the sweep and become the first team to move on to Round 2. In total, there’s a four-pack of Game 4’s tonight headlined by the Calgary Flames, who visit the Dallas Stars trailing 2-1 in that series. Elsewhere, the Penguins and Capitals will look to grab a 3-1 series stranglehold on the Rangers and Panthers, respectively.
All-in-all, the underdogs have been creating some big-time buzz in Round 1. Suffice it is to say, tonight’s a big night for some of the NHL’s elite. Taking that into account, here are some prop bets to consider:
PROP #1: Johnny Gaudreau (+170) / Matthew Tkachuk Anytime Goal (+170)
It goes without saying but the Flames aren’t going anywhere in this series unless Gaudreau and Tkachuk, who combined for 82 goals in the regular season, can start producing. Through three games, neither winger has scored, so it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to see Calgary trailing in the series right now. Depending how confident you are about the Flames tonight, you could parlay these two goal props and go big. Both players are very due.
PROP #2: Florida Panthers Race to 3 Goals (-130)
There’s nothing like postseason puck, and once again, we’re seeing why. Fresh off a Presidents’ Trophy win, the Florida Panthers find themselves down 2-1 to the pesky Washington Capitals. Not only did the Cats drop Game 3 on Saturday afternoon in D.C., but they were thoroughly embarrassed losing 6-1. Just a hunch, but this feels like your classic ‘response’ game for Florida. We’ll see what they have.
PROP #3: Ryan Strome Over 2.5 SOG (+130)
Don’t look now but here comes contract year Ryan Strome. Over the first three games of the series, the Rangers centre has been stuffing the stat sheet notching one goal, two helpers and 18 shots on goal. Strome’s been playing very loose and motivated, which is great news if you’re looking to play his shot prop. To this point, he’s had no problem clearing that 2.5 number. Let the good times roll.
PROP #4: Nazem Kadri Over 0.5 Assists (+125)
Getting Kadri, who has two helpers in this series and had 59 in the regular-season, at plus-money to pick up at least one helper is value if I’ve ever seen it. Furthermore, Colorado has potted 16 goals over the first three games of this series, so you know he’ll get plenty of opportunity to cash this play. Let’s go!
