Veteran forward James van Riemsdyk is off to Detroit.
The longtime winger signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Red Wings on Tuesday, NHL insider Frank Seravalli reported.
Van Riemsdyk, 37, had 16 goals and 20 assists in 71 games for the Columbus Blue Jackets last season.
The No. 2-overall pick by Philadelphia in the 2007 NHL Draft, van Riemsdyk has notched 327 goals and 338 assists for 665 points in 1,082 career games with the Flyers (two stints), Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins and Columbus Blue Jackets.
The six-foot-three New Jersey native played for the United States at the 2014 Olympics.
He now figures to hit the 1,100-game mark as a member of the Red Wings.
