John Hynes will continue to roam the Minnesota Wild bench.
Hynes signed a multi-year contract extension with the Western Conference club, it announced on Tuesday.
The 51-year-old native of Warwick, R.I., is entering his fourth season as Wild head coach. He led the club to a six-game victory over the Dallas Stars in Round 1 of the playoffs last season before falling to the Colorado Avalanche in five games in Round 2.
Since Hynes took over the Wild on Nov. 28, 2023, the team has the eighth-most points in the NHL at 274. Hynes' record stands at 125-78-24 across 227 contests with Minnesota.
The Wild are entering this season with heightened expectations after last season's playoff breakthrough and blockbuster trade for defenceman Quinn Hughes.
Minnesota placed third in the West last season with 104 points, while Hynes helped guide the power play to a franchise-record 25.2 per cent conversion rate.
Hynes previously served as head coach for the Nashville Predators and New Jersey Devils. Over 829 games, he holds a career record of 409-333-87, ranking fourth all-time in wins for American coaches.
