Canucks’ Boeser: ‘A blessing in disguise that I didn’t get traded’

Brock Boeser of the Vancouver Canucks spoke candidly during locker cleanout day about his desire to stay in Vancouver and about the swirling rumours he's been involved in surrounding his potential trade.

During the Vancouver Canucks‘ end-of-season press conferences, Brock Boeser expressed his desire to stay put.

Asked about his future ahead of the off-season, the forward Boeser responded: “To be completely honest with you I don’t want to be traded.”

As the Canucks were twirling down the depths of the National Hockey League, Boeser’s agent, Ben Hankinson, had been working with Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin on trying to find a trade partner, including the Minnesota Wild.

Boeser remained a Canuck after the March 3 trade deadline. For the 26-year-old, it was “a blessing in disguise that I didn’t get traded.”

Boeser capped off his seventh season with the Canucks, totalling 18 goals and 37 assists in 74 games. He has two more years on his deal, which pays him $6.6 million per season, after which he will become an unrestricted free agent.
