A Babcock is back behind the bench.
The OHL's Brantford Bulldogs hired Michael Babcock, the son of longtime NHL bench boss Mike Babcock, as head coach, the team announced on Friday.
Michael Babcock, 31, spent last season as an assistant with the AHL's San Diego Gulls. He previously served two seasons as a skills coach with the St. Louis Blues and has also worked as an assistant at the University of Saskatchewan.
The Saskatoon native played hockey at Merrimack College and professionally in France before pivoting to coaching.
Owned by NHLer Zach Hyman, who played under the elder Babcock with the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Bulldogs led the OHL with 106 points this season before dropping the conference final to the Barrie Colts in seven games.
Former head coach Jay McKee then left the team to take a role as head coach of the AHL's Hamilton Hammers.
