Summer McIntosh has missed the A final in the 400-metre freestyle at the Pan Pacific Championships.
The 19-year-old Canadian finished ninth overall in the heats with a time of four minutes 8.56 seconds.
McIntosh holds the world record in the event at 3:54.18 and is the reigning world champion.
American Katie Ledecky posted the fastest qualifying time at 4:03.48, with New Zealand's Erika Fairweather second at 4:04.50.
McIntosh qualified for the B final, while Canadian Ella Cosgrove also advanced after finishing 13th overall.
McIntosh has three medals at the meet — gold in the 400 individual medley, silver in the 200 freestyle and bronze in a relay.
