TBILISI, Ga. — The Georgian Olympic committee has asked the organizers of Vancouver Games to explain the newly released documents related to the track where a Georgian luger died.

Emails released this week indicated that the safety of lugers on the track was the source of debate for both organizers and international luge officials for years.

Nodar Kumaritashvili died when he lost control of his sled at nearly 145 km/h, flew off the course and slammed into a steel pole hours before the opening of the 2010 Olympics.
