Former Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has found his new landing spot.
The former Man United and Sporting Lisbon manager has agreed to a two-year deal, plus an option for a third, with Italian giants AC Milan to become the club's new head coach, according to a report by soccer insider Fabrizio Romano on Monday.
Amorim has been out of work since he was fired by the English side on Jan. 5. His much-maligned tenure at Old Trafford ended with him holding the lowest winning percentage among the club's permanent managers since Alex Ferguson retired (38 per cent).
At the time of his firing, Man United was 13th in the Premier League and his replacement, Michael Carrick, helped lead the club back to the Champions League with a third-place finish.
Before Amorim's stint in the Premier League, he led Sporting Lisbon to two Primeira Liga titles (2020-21 and 2023-24) and earned a reputation as a well-regarded upcoming manager, most famously being one of the finalists to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, according to a report in The Athletic.
Now, Amorim will take over an AC Milan side that finished fifth in Serie A last season, 17 points off rivals and league champions Inter Milan.
