Brandi Chastain’s Hall of Fame plaque is really, really bad

Remember Cristiano Ronaldo’s disastrous bronze bust from last year?

This is so much worse than that.

U.S. women’s soccer legend Brandi Chastain was inducted into the Bay Area Hall of Fame on Monday and was honoured with a plaque featuring her name and likeness.

Only, it was clearly someone else’s face — because what we all saw looked nothing like her.

Thankfully, it sounds like it’s going to be replaced.

Chastain, in addition to being one of the most iconic and recognizable faces in women’s soccer, is a three-time Olympian (two gold, one silver) and two-time World Cup champion as a 16-year national veteran. She retired in 2004.

She’s also incredibly gracious.

“It’s not the most flattering,” Chastain told reporters, via The Mercury News. “But it’s nice.”

The rest of the Twittersphere wasn’t quite as forgiving as Chastain, though.

OK, so … if the face of her plaque doesn’t look like Chastain, who does it look like?

Sports Twitter had a few ideas. Here are a few of the funniest tweets we’ve seen.
