Sportsnet Delivers Fans the Ultimate Holiday Programming Lineup

TORONTO (December 17, 2013) While the weather outside may be frightful, inside, Sportsnet is dialing up the heat with more than 30 hours of special festive programming, providing sports fans with the ultimate viewing wish list this holiday season, beginning Tuesday, Dec. 24 through Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 (full schedule below).

 

December 24

The unwrapping starts early on Christmas Eve when Sportsnet decks the halls with The Ultimate Fighter: Rousey vs. Tate marathon kicking off at 11 a.m. ET/8 a.m. PT. Later that night, the fun continues as Sportsnet’s Ken Reid and Evanka Osmak count down the highlights of 2013 in the Top 50 Plays of the Year at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT, followed by the Best Sports Quotes Ever, a special one-hour show presented by PokerStars.net and hosted by comedian Gerry Dee, looking back at the most memorable sound bites from athletes, coaches and sports celebrities.

The night caps off on Sportsnet 360 with a review of the Best Highlights of 2013 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT followed by Sportsnet magazine’s Year in Review, a half-hour recap of the most memorable moments and top stories of the past year at 9:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. PT.

 

December 25

The season’s beatings for fight fans continues Christmas Day with the debut of the UFC’s 20th Anniversary special at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT on Sportsnet 360, followed by a UFC  Ultimate Knockouts marathon.

 

December 26

It’s a BPL Boxing Day doubleheader bash kicking off with Hull City vs. Manchester United at 7:30 a.m. ET/4:30 a.m. PT, followed by West Ham United vs. Arsenal at 9:30 a.m. ET/6:30 a.m. PT on Sportsnet East, Ontario, West and Pacific. Later that evening on Sportsnet ONE at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT, Barclays Premier League: Goals and Gaffes takes a special one-hour look at the greatest, wildest and most memorable plays from the past year in the BPL.

 

December 31 – January 3

Sportsnet steps up to the plate to ring in the New Year with a look back at MLB’s Greatest Games – five of the top playoff games of all time, broadcast in their entirety. The MLB’s Greatest Games lineup includes Game Six of the 1986 World Series featuring the Boston Red Sox versus the New York Mets, and Red Sox Billy Buckner’s infamous error, as well as Game One of the 1988 World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Oakland Athletics, headlined by Kirk Gibson’s dramatic game-winning homerun (Please see full broadcast schedule below).

 

December 26 – January 5

College football fans rejoice, as Sportsnet delivers 13 NCAA Bowl Games over the holidays, kicking off with a doubleheader on Boxing Day when Bowling Green takes on Pittsburgh in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT, followed by Northern Illinois vs. Utah State in the San Diego County CU Poinsettia Bowl at 9:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. PT on Sportsnet 360.
