One of the WNBA's top free agents is heading to the Bay Area.
All-star guard Gabby Williams has reportedly agreed to a multi-year deal with the Golden State Valkyries, per ESPN's Andraya Carter on Sunday.
Williams, 29, joins Golden State on the heels of her most active WNBA season. Last year's steals champ made 44 starts with the Seattle Storm, averaging 11.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.2 assists and league-best 2.3 steals.
According to Carter on Friday, Williams had narrowed down her choices to the defending champion Las Vegas Aces, Minnesota Lynx and Golden State.
She finished third in Defensive Player of the Year voting and earned her second all-defence team selection.
Williams' decision to join the Valkyries ends a four-year tenure with the Storm, with whom she first signed with in 2021.
She was originally drafted fourth overall in 2018 by the Chicago Sky and spent three seasons in the Windy City.
Williams holds career averages of 8.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.5 steals through 191 regular-season games. The eight-year vet has also logged 12 playoff appearances (nine starts), averaging 10.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.3 steals.
As for the Storm, William's departure is the latest in a week of free agency that has seen the team lose plenty of firepower. All-star guards Nneka Ogwumike (Los Angeles Sparks) and Skylar Diggins (Sky) also left via free agency.
