Team Canada defenceman Braden Schneider was ejected from Saturday’s game against Germany following a check to the head of forward Jan-Luca Schumacher.
Germany had only 14 players, it's already 2-0, and it's gonna be about 10-0 before we're done. Do you really have to step up and crush a guy like that? Braden Schneider kicked out after that head shot.
The play occurred midway through the first period, as Schneider lined up Schumacher for the hit and caught him in the head. Schneider, a New York Rangers prospect, was given a five-minute major and game misconduct.
Schneider could receive further discipline including a one-game suspension from the IIHF. Canada opened its preliminary round action in Group A on Saturday. The team will face Slovakia on Sunday.
