Raptors 905 acquire rights to Canadian Bhullar

The Toronto Raptors have added some more homegrown talent to their pipeline.

Raptors 905, the team’s D-League affiliate, announced on Friday that it has acquired the returning player rights to Canadian centre Sim Bhullar from the Reno Bighorns.

Bhullar, 22, spent the bulk of last season with Reno, averaging 25.8 minutes, 10.3 points, 8.8 rebounds and 3.9 blocks in 39 games. The seven-foot-five, 355-pound centre also appeared in three games for the Sacramento Kings last season, becoming the first player of Indian descent to play in the NBA.

The Brampton, Ont., native, who won a silver medal with Team Canada at the 2015 Pan American Games, is the third local player to join the organization this year after Cory Joseph and Anthony Bennett were acquired in the off-season.

Raptors 905 open their season Nov. 14 on the road against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
