McKegg’s two goals power Marlies past Wild

TORONTO — Greg McKegg scored twice and the Toronto Marlies topped the Iowa Wild 5-1 on Saturday in American Hockey League play.

Matt Frattin, Josh Leivo and William Nylander also scored for Toronto (19-18-9). Christopher Gibson made 32 saves for the win.

Zack Mitchell had a goal with 34 seconds left to play for Iowa (17-30-2). Darcy Kuemper stopped 21 shots in net for the Wild.

The Marlies were 1 for 2 on the power play, while Iowa could not score on its two man advantages.

McKegg’s first goal came on a breakaway early in the first period. His second came at the 11:05 mark of the third period to give Toronto a 3-0 lead.

Frattin’s second period goal was the eventual winner.
