In exchange for Bean, Calgary is getting forward Carson Focht, defenceman Dakota Krebs and three draft picks.
Bean, 19, won a gold medal with Canada at the World Juniors. He joins a team in Tri-City that is battling for a spot in the top three of the U.S. Division standings.
A first-round pick by the Carolina Hurricanes in 2016, Bean has five goals and 27 points in 25 games this season.
The WHL trade deadline is Wednesday.
