Hockey Canada names U18 Worlds pre-competition camp roster

Projected top-10 NHL draft picks Jakob Chychrun and Jake Bean headline Canada’s national under-18 team pre-competition camp.

The two top defenceman prospects will be joined by five other blue-liners, 13 forwards and three goaltenders, all vying for chance to represent Canada at the 2016 IIHF U18 World Championship in Grand Forks, N.D., running from April 14-24.

Additionally, as part of the camp, Canada will face off against the Czech Republic and Sweden in a pair of exhibitions.

“Bringing the players together in Winnipeg gives the team a chance to gel before we travel to Grand Forks, and allows some of our up-and-coming players to gain some valuable experience working with our coaching staff and playing two exhibition games against international teams,” Hockey Canada player personnel director Ryan Jankowski said in a release.
