The transfer of Russian centre Andrei Loktionov to the Windsor Spitfires was approved Wednesday by the International Ice Hockey Federation.
Loktionov, 18, played for Yaroslavl Lokomotiv of the Continental Hockey League (KHL) last season and was drafted seventh overall by the Spitfires in the Canadian Hockey League import draft. Loktionov was also drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the fifth round (123rd overall) of this year’s Entry Draft and participated in their prospects camp in September.
Loktionov is expected to play in Windsor’s game against Peterborough Thursday.
"We are extremely pleased to add a player with Andrei’s offensive ability to our lineup and we are also excited to have him suit up for us in our game against the Peterborough Petes tomorrow,” Spitfires VP and GM Warren Rychel said in a statement.
