Ottawa Senators goaltender Craig Anderson will be out of the Sens lineup for at least the next three or four days with an ankle injury he suffered on Thursday night.
Sens general manager Bryan Murray indicated that the injury will not be long-term for Anderson, but he will likely be unavailable for the next two home games against the Toronto Maple Leafs Saturday and the Montreal Canadiens Monday.
Anderson suffered the ankle injury in the third period of Thursday’s shootout win over the New York Rangers when Chris Kreider crashed into him inside the Ottawa crease. The netminder had to be helped off the ice and could not put any weight on his right leg.
Anderson is being listed as day-to-day with an ankle injury, but the best-case scenario would see him return to the net on Thursday in Boston.
The 31-year-old was having the best season of any goaltender in the NHL, leading the league with a 1.49 GAA and a .952 save percentage in 15 starts.
