The St. Louis Blues activated defenceman Wade Redden, team executive vice president and general manager Doug Armstrong announced Wednesday.

The veteran defenceman signed a one-year deal worth $800,000 with the Blues on Jan. 18 after being bought out by his former team the New York Rangers.

To make room for Redden, who will wear No. 6, the club assigned defenceman Ian Cole to the Blues’ American Hockey League affiliate Peoria Rivermen.

Cole, 23, has dressed in all three of the Blues’ games this season posting an assist and two penalty minutes.

The Blues host the Nashville Predators on Thursday.
