There are many questions surrounding the end of the NHL lockout and the beginning of a new hockey season, and apparently one of which is, “is Boston Bruins power forward Milan Lucic in shape?”
On Monday, Darren M. Haynes, a sports reporter from Boston tweeted this photo of Lucic sucking wind.

This got people’s attention online and prompted Lucic to respond to critics of his aerobic health.
“You’re never really in game shape until you’re playing games, “ Lucic told weei.com’s Big Bad Blog. “For myself, I try to keep myself in shape, but we still have two weeks here of skating. I’ve never had a problem with my conditioning at any level, so I’ll be ready.”
Lucic, who expects the first day of training camp to be difficult, didn’t play anywhere during the lockout, like many NHLers did. However, he regularly skated at practices organized by teammates.
Last season, Lucic had 26 goals, 61 points and 135 penalty minutes in 81 games.
