Canada’s Pospisil out of Friday Davis Cup singles match vs. India

Vasek Pospisil will be held out of his Friday singles match during Canada’s Davis Cup tie against India because of a back issue. He’ll be replaced by Brayden Schnur.

Davis Cup matchups consists of two singles matches Friday and Sunday, plus a doubles match on Saturday. All matches are best-of-five sets. Pospisil had to retire from his first-round match at the U.S. Open last month because of his back problems.

Pospisil is a strong doubles players, with a Wimbledon title to his credit, and has teamed up with Canadian veteran Daniel Nestor in the past.

Fresh off a trip to the fourth round of the U.S. Open, 18-year-old Denis Shapovalov is Canada’s other singles player.
