Randal Grichuk’s injury could have been much worse. Thankfully, it’s just some “bumps” and “bruises.”

The Toronto Blue Jays right-fielder was part of an unfortunate incident on Sunday that saw him collide with the legs of a stool carried by a Rogers Centre security guard.

Grichuk stayed down for several minutes and was tended to by Blue Jays trainers. The area around his left eye sustained a cut and bruise and he was soon undergoing concussion evaluation from medical staff.

The 27-year-old was said to be in good spirits on Sunday and one day later, he relayed his feelings on Twitter by expressing his appreciation to the fans for the support and staff for the quick treatment.

Randal Grichuk on Twitter

Thank you to everyone for the kind words & prayers! It was an unfortunate accident and I’m fortunate to just have some bumps & bruises. I’m also incredibly thankful for our medical staff and their treatment yesterday. My mom always said I had a hard head.

The Blue Jays are off Monday before opening up a series vs. the Red Sox in Boston on Tuesday.
