Troy Tulowitzki won’t be making his season debut alongside his Toronto Blue Jays teammates at Thursday’s season opener against the New York Yankees.
The club released its Opening Day roster Thursday morning, and placed Tulowitzki on the 60-day disabled list as he continues to recover from an ankle injury.
That Tulowitzki’s season debut is delayed is not a surprise. The 33-year-old shortstop has been dealing with bilateral heel bone spurs in his right ankle, an ongoing issue that was aggravated during a game against the Los Angeles Angels last July. According to Sportsnet’s Shi Davidi, Tulowitzki saw a specialist on Wednesday to determine the best course of action going forward in his recovery.
Also on the DL are Anthony Alford (10-day, hamstring) and Dalton Pompey (wrist).
