Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Jordan Romano left the team’s game against the New York Yankees on Saturday in the seventh inning after appearing to twist his right ankle making an awkward catch on a line drive to the mound.
He limped off the field in pain with help from Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo and a team trainer.
He was replaced by Justin Shafer.
Romano, 26, entered the game 5.59 ERA with 16 strikeouts in 9.2 innings.
