The Los Angeles Clippers have hired Tyronn Lue to be the team’s top assistant coach, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Former Cavaliers championship coach Ty Lue has agreed on deal to join the Los Angeles Clippers as the top assistant coach on Doc Rivers’ staff, league sources tell @TheAthleticNBA@Stadium.
Lue was previously in the running for the now-filled Los Angeles Lakers head coaching position in May, but the two parties couldn’t come to terms on a deal.
Lue, 42, won a championship as head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016, and also has previous experience coaching alongside Clippers bench boss Doc Rivers from 2011 to 2014.
