Warriors’ Steph Curry explains why he always lights up the Raptors

Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry shares some reasons why his career numbers vs. the Toronto Raptors are so much better than his overall career averages.

It’s no secret that Steph Curry loves Toronto.

As a kid growing up in the city, and now as a professional basketball player, there’s something between the Golden State Warriors star and Toronto that just clicks.

And his numbers on the court back it up. In 16 games against the Raptors, the five-time all-star has averaged 29.8 points while shooting 53.2 per cent from the field. That’s up significantly from the 23.3 points and 47.9 shooting percentage he’s averaging over his career.

Sportsnet’s Donnovan Bennett caught up with Curry to ask him about his success against the Raptors. The 30-year-old Warriors star said growing up in Toronto and Charlotte while his dad Dell played in the NBA brings back fond memories, and “anytime I can get up for a game against Toronto, it just brings another level of juice to my game.”

Curry missed the first meeting between the Warriors and Raptors this season, but is expected to play when the two teams tip off Wednesday in Oakland.

The Raptors better hope they bring their best effort, because it’s clear Curry will.
