The Saskatchewan Roughriders lost $157,005 last season, one in which the franchise captured its fifth Grey Cup championship.
The deficit followed a profitable 2024-25 season in which the franchise finished $2.1 million in the black. The Roughriders released the results of their annual financial report Wednesday.
Two factors contributed to last season's financial loss: extra expenses that came with winning the Grey Cup, as well as additional game-day costs and fan vouchers caused by the postponement of a July 11 regular-season game due to wildfire smoke.
According to the community-owned club's financial report, gross revenues were at $44.7 million, up from $40.8 million the year before, while gate receipts increased to $14.5 million. The Earnings Before Interest, Depreciation and Amortization (EBIDA) remained strong at $2.3 million while the stabilization fund grew to over $11.3 million.
Saskatchewan's expenses were $45.1 million from $38.7 million the year before, an increase of 16.5 per cent. Thirty-four per cent of expenses went to football operations, with 14 per cent being allocated to merchandise.
Still, the Riders' drive to a championship boosted demand for merchandise, resulting in revenues of $9.1 million, the highest total in over a decade.
However, following their Grey Cup victory, the Riders also visited 38 communities around the province to share the championship with their fans over two months.
