Jacqueline Harrison of Brantford eliminated defending champion Allison Flaxey from the Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts with a 7-6 victory during the final round robin draw Friday night in Penetanguishene, Ont.
Harrison (6-3) held the hammer coming home and nailed the runback with her last shot to score the winning single and clinch third place in the page playoff 3-vs-4 game.
Flaxey (4-5) opened with the hammer but came up light on her final throw and gave up a steal of one. Harrison scored deuces in three and five to lead 5-2 at the break. The two rinks traded singles through seven and eight and Flaxey, from Listowel, knotted it up 6-6 with an amazing double takeout to score three in the ninth.

Team Harrison will meet Mississauga’s Clancy Grandy, who finished with a 5-4 record to take fourth place. Grandy scored three sets of treys for a 9-5 victory over Waterloo’s Shannon Kee (3-6).
Sherry Middaugh of Coldwater beat Julie Hastings 9-5 to hand the Thornhill team their first loss of the tournament in a preview of the page 1-vs-2 game. Middaugh (7-2) trailed by two after the second end but scored a deuce in three and stole singles in five and six to make it 4-2. Hastings (8-1) knotted it up with a deuce in seven. Team Middaugh took two in the eighth to regain the lead, held Hastings to one in the ninth and iced the game with a three-ender in the 10th.
Caitlin Romain and her Glendale team wrapped up the tournament with a 4-5 record after winning 8-3 over Ottawa’s Danielle Inglis (3-6). Romain led 3-2 after six ends, scored three in the seventh to pull away and counted two in the ninth.
Mississauga’s Megan Balsdon (2-7) ended her event on a high note with a 5-3 victory over Ottawa’s Rhonda Varnes (3-6).
