Alexis Lafreniere and Quinton Byfield are among 40 players invited to play in the 2020 CHL/NHL Top Prospects game.

The CHL announced the full list of players invited Monday, but won’t split them into separate teams until closer to the Jan. 16 game in Hamilton, Ont.

The game gives CHL players eligible for June’s NHL Draft another chance to showcase themselves to NHL scouts. In all, 31 of the CHL’s 60 teams will be represented in the game and 19 of the players participating have been given an ‘A’ rating by NHL Central Scouting, meaning they are projected to be first round picks.

“All 31 NHL clubs have a say in the player selection process and take great interest in this best-on-best showcase,” said Dan Marr, Director of NHL Central Scouting in a statement. “The Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game is a great opportunity for scouts and general managers to evaluate talent and we look forward to seeing which players will make their mark in Hamilton.”
