Blue Jackets sign Swiss defenceman Tim Berni to entry-level contract

The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed Swiss defenceman Tim Berni to a three-year entry-level contract. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Berni, 20, was a sixth-round pick by the Blue Jackets in 2018.

Last season, he appeared in 45 games for the ZSC Lions in the Swiss National League, his second full season with the Lions. In those 45 games, he set career highs in goals (four), points (11) and plus-minus (plus-eight).

Berni has also represented Switzerland in several international tournaments, including three World Juniors (serving as team captain in 2020) and two U18 World Championships.
