The Montreal Canadiens have signed 2018 NHL Draft third-overall pick Jesperi Kotkaniemi to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Kotkaniemi, 17, is a Finnish forward who helped lead his home country to a gold medal in this year’s World Junior Hockey Championship.

He had three goals and nine points over seven games played in that tournament.
