Capitals re-sign goalie Vanecek to 3-year, $2.15M deal

The Washington Capitals have re-signed goalie Vitek Vanecek to a three-year, $2.15-million contract, the team announced Monday.

The first year is a two-way contract ($700,000 in the NHL, $160,000 in the AHL), while the final two years are one-way ($700,000 and $750,000).

The 23-year-old, who was the Capitals’ second-round pick (39th overall) in 2014, posted a 21-10-6 record, a 2.62 goals-against average and a .907 save percentage in 38 games with the AHL’s Hershey Bears last season.
