Hurricanes’ Eddie Lack: ‘Everything looks alright’ after scary collision

Eddie Lack had to be stretchered off the ice after suffering an injury on Andreas Athanasiou’s game-winning goal in overtime.

Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Eddie Lack says that everything looks alright after being stretchered off the ice following a 4-3 overtime loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Monday night.

Lack was run into by Detroit’s Andreas Athanasiou at 1:59 of overtime and appeared to injure his left leg on the play, which Athanasiou scored on. Lack was down on the ice for several minutes before a stretcher came to help him off.

Both teams stood around post-game to watch the situation unfold.

Team spokesman Mike Sundheim said Lack was moving his arms and legs after he was taken off the ice.

Lack finished the game with 23 saves.
