Hurricanes’ Noah Hanifin out indefinitely with concussion

The Carolina Hurricanes took the lead thanks to Jordan Staal. But four unanswered goals in the third gave the Philadelphia Flyers a 4-2 win.

Carolina Hurricanes defenceman Noah Hanifin is out indefinitely after suffering a concussion, the team announced Monday.

Hanifin was injured during the third period on Saturday when the Hurricanes played the Philadelphia Flyers, and he sat out of their Sunday game against the New York Islanders.

In 71 games this season, the 21-year-old has eight goals and 21 assists while sporting a minus-17 rating.

Sunday’s tilt against the Islanders was the first game Hanifin has missed this season, and the Hurricanes now sit at 31-30-11, nine points out of the second wild-card spot with 10 games remaining.
