The Toronto Maple Leafs signed Regina Pats star Adam Brooks to a three-year entry-level contract Thursday.

Brooks was selected in the fourth round (92nd overall) by the Maple Leafs in 2016 and is coming off a career year with the Pats in the Western Hockey League.

The Winnipeg native played five years–that’s nearly a quarter of his life–representing the Pats. In 66 regular-season games in 2016-17 he registered a career high 43 goals, 87 assists, 61 penalty minutes and had a plus-43 rating. His 130 points were good for second place in the WHL scoring race. His teammate Sam Steel finished the year with 131 points. Brooks also added 18 points in 17 post-season contests.

The 21-year-old centre finished his WHL career with 335 points in 317 games.
