For so many years, when you thought of the Ottawa Senators, Daniel Alfredsson came to mind.

The Swedish winger grew with the franchise that took him with a sixth-round pick in 1994, to become a captain, and a franchise-record holder in various offensive categories.

While a forgettable one-year in Detroit prevented “Alfie” from playing his entire career in the nation’s capital, there’s no doubting the impact he had on the Senators.

Which is why moment No. 69 celebrates his jersey retirement on Dec. 29.
