Nikita Kucherov leaves game vs. Maple Leafs with upper-body injury

Brayden Point scored the shootout winner as the Tampa Bay Lightning picked up the full 2 points in a 4-3 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs Monday. It came at a cost however as Nikita Kucherov exited the game with an upper-body injury.

Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov left Monday’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs with an upper-body injury and will not return.

Kucherov didn’t return to the ice with his teammates after the first intermission, but otherwise it’s unclear when the injury occurred.

If the injury is serious, the Lightning will be without one of the most dynamic scorers in the league as they push for the playoffs. Kucherov has led the league in scoring for most of the season and entered Monday’s action with 33 goals and 82 points.

UPDATE: After the game, head coach Jon Cooper had nothing to say about Kucherov’s injury.
