The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-signed defenceman Marcus Pettersson to a one-way, one-year deal with an average annual value of $874,125, the team announced on Thursday.

Pettersson, 23, was the Penguins’ final restricted free agent. He registered 25 points in his first full season last year, finishing 10th in the Calder Trophy voting.

“Marcus is a smart, reliable defenceman who improved our defensive corps after coming over from Anaheim last year,” GM Jim Rutherford said in a statement.
