The San Jose Sharks have signed forward Alexander Chmelevski to a three-year, entry-level contract.
Chmelevski had 35 goals and 76 points in 68 games with the OHL’s Oshawa Generals this past season.
“Sasha is an exciting player with high-end hockey IQ and puck skill, and has gained power and strength during his time in Juniors,” said Sharks general manager Doug Wilson in a release. “He worked hard to make huge strides in his overall game, which was exhibited as he thrived in big time situations and was counted on this year to play on the power play and penalty kill.”
The Sharks drafted the 18-year-old in the sixth round (185th overall) last June.
He holds dual citizenship with the United States and Ukraine.
