Roberts scores a pair as Wheat Kings dump Hurricanes in WHL matinee

BRANDON, Man. — Landon Roberts scored twice as the Brandon Wheat Kings defeated the Lethbridge Hurricanes 5-2 in Western Hockey League play on Thursday.

Roberts opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal in the first period and sealed the victory with an empty-netter.

Rylen Roersma, Riley Ginnell and Brett Hyland had the other goals for Brandon (6-9-0-0).

Logan McCutcheon and Joe Arntsen tallied for the Hurricanes (5-9-0-0).

Ethan Kruger made 31 saves for Brandon. Bryan Thomson stopped 18 shots for Lethbridge.
