Anna Huang is making the most of her late-summer shot on the LPGA Tour.
The 17-year-old Canadian shot a 2-under 70 on Friday in the second round to put her 5 under overall at the FM Championship in Norton, Mass.
Huang, from Vancouver, was three back of the clubhouse lead when she finished her morning round.
Huang got a spot in this tournament after finishing in a tie for fourth last week at the LPGA's CPKC Women's Open in Edmonton. Top-10 finishers in LPGA events get spots in the next event if they are not tour members.
Huang got an exemption into Canada's lone LPGA stop after continuing to excel on the Ladies European Tour this year, where she has four career wins in two seasons.
She opted to turn pro last year instead of taking the college route.
Huang isn't eligible to attend the LPGA's qualifying school until this year's edition in November.
Despite not being an LPGA member, Huang is 36th in the world rankings.
Huang is one of several Canadian teenage women golfers enjoying strong summers.
Amateur Aphrodite Deng also finished in the top 10 last week in Edmonton to get a spot in this week's LPGA event, while Clairey Lin won the U.S. Girls' Junior Championship this year — an event Deng won last year.
