Cam Schittler will have to take on a healthy diet of lefties as he gears up for his second-career post-season start.
The Toronto Blue Jays will field a lineup consisting of five left-handed batters to take on the towering New York Yankees rookie righty in Game 4 of the ALDS on Wednesday.
Moving into the Blue Jays' starting lineup will be Nathan Lukes, slotting in at left field and batting second, and Addison Barger, playing third base and batting fourth. Both players played in Game 3 but came off the bench.
First pitch of Game 4 is set for 7:08 p.m. ET / 4:08 p.m. PT, with live coverage available on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+.
Though the Blue Jays are hoping to make the most of a right-on-lefty matchup, Schlittler has fared well against batters from both sides of the plate.
The 24-year-old has a .211 opponent batting average against righties and a .222 against lefties. He has a worse strikeout-per-walk rate against lefties (2.48) than with righties (3.20), but gives up a higher slugging percentage to righties (.376) than to lefties (.310).
He had an impressive post-season debut in the Wild Card Series against the Boston Red Sox, striking out 12 batters over eight innings of shutout ball in a 4-0 win.
On the other end, the Blue Jays will turn to their bullpen as they look to close out the series in the Bronx. Louis Varland will get the starting nod, with manager John Schneider saying after Game 3 that "everyone is available" for Wednesday night.
