Shane Bieber is finally set to begin his 2026 campaign.
The Toronto Blue Jays pitcher will take the mound and make his season debut on Tuesday in a matinee against the Houston Astros (Sportsnet, Sportsnet+, 4 p.m. ET / 1 p.m. PT).
To make room for Bieber, who was reinstated from the 60-day IL, the Blue Jays optioned RHP Lazaro Estrada to triple-A, and designated RHP Hayden Juenger for assignment, the team announced Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Luis Urias will make his Blue Jays debut after being acquired from the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday.
Urias will start at second base at bat seventh in what will also be his season debut after failing to crack the D-backs' big-league roster. He hit .230/.315/.338 with eight homers in 96 games with the Athletics last year.
Bieber's return was moved to a Tuesday start after the team's series finale against the Chicago Cubs on Sunday was postponed.
A mid-season acquisition by the Blue Jays last summer, Bieber managed only seven regular-season starts with Toronto as he recovered from a Tommy John surgery he underwent the season prior, while with the Cleveland Guardians. He finished with a 3.57 ERA and 1.017 WHIP in 40.1 innings.
The 31-year-old is coming off a less-than-stellar rehab start on Wednesday, where he threw 80 pitches, allowed five earned runs and 11 baserunners in five-plus innings.
He had been sidelined since spring training with elbow inflammation.
