The Toronto Blue Jays added to their 2026 draft class with the selection of Ryan Cooney in the third round on Saturday.
Toronto tabbed the shortstop from Oregon with the 103rd-overall pick after taking Arizona State lefty Cole Carlon 39th earlier in the day.
Cooney earned All-Big Ten First Team honours this spring after slashing .331/.420/.525 with eight home runs, 22 doubles and 13 stolen bases in 60 games for the Ducks.
The 21-year-old was ranked as the 137th best prospect in this year's draft by MLB Pipeline and 175th by Baseball America.
A six-foot, 195-pound right-handed hitter, Cooney only struck out 35 times in 2026 and spent time at second, third and short defensively.
