With their starting rotation still missing bodies, the Toronto Blue Jays will turn to another opener on Saturday.
Left-handed reliever Mason Fluharty will start the second game of the series in Detroit against the Tigers, manager John Schneider announced after Friday's game.
Spencer Miles also will play a prominent role on the mound, Schneider said.
Fluharty started as an opener once previously this season, against the Chicago White Sox on April 4. He gave up one run in one inning before he was replaced by Lazaro Estrada.
Miles started as an opener his last time out on May 10. The righty impressed, giving up no runs on two hits in three innings.
Right-hander Casey Mize is Detroit's scheduled starter.
