Blue Jays place Hand on bereavement list, recall Overton from triple-A

The Toronto Blue Jays announced roster moves on Friday.

Relief pitcher Brad Hand is being placed on the bereavement list, while pitching prospect Connor Overton is being recalled from triple-A and will be on the active roster tonight.

Hand was acquired at the trade deadline from the Washington Nationals. During the 2021 season, Hand is 5-7 with a 4.21 ERA.

Overton has spent the majority of the season with the Buffalo Bisons, where he has recorded 57.2 innings pitched, with a 2-1 record and a 2.03 ERA.

The Blue Jays are in action Friday night on Sportsnet at 7:10pm ET/4:10pm PT to begin a three-game series on the road against the Detroit Tigers.
